Antonio Ferrara

About

Since October 2020, I am a PhD candidate and an Early Stage Researcher for the NoBias project, as part of the HORIZON 2020 – Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions, at the Computational Social Science department of GESIS – Leibniz Institute for Social Science, located in Cologne. My PhD supervisors are Claudia Wagner (GESIS) and Fariba Karimi (CSH).

Previously, I worked at the statistical department of the European Central Bank in Frankfurt and at the ISI research institute in Turin. My background is in Mathematics, I obtained my bachelor at the University of Florence and my master´s degree, called Stochastics and Data Science, at the University of Turin.

My research interests lie in the intersection of fairness, network science and social sciences. In particular, I am interested in how ranking and recommendation methods might affect the visibility and the connections between different groups of online users in social and information networks, and the impact that these methods might have on the society.
